It almost looks like a phone cable but it is thicker cable and alittle bit bigger end....anyone know what I am talking about???

This is called an ethernet cable, and it is used for high-speed internet like DSL and higher.

If you ask a sales person at the store, it is a CAT 5 cable or eithernet cable. There are also crossover cables that look the same, but the wires inside are twisted to where one end is one lay out and the other end changes the layout of the wires, making it crosswires instead of being straight through. Cat 5 cables are usually used to connect to modems or routers or switches. In some cases, you can replace the router or switch by using the cross over cable and connecting directly PC to PC. Normal straight through CAT 5 cables can not connect directly they must go through some type of a switch or router.

Its either a modem cable or a CAT-5 UTP cable with an RJ-45 connector.
