I've read somewhere that if you spray a fastskin with a water repellent such as Thompsons water seal it will actually have the suit last longer, is this true?

If you're competing and you apply any type of water repellent that's called "greasing" and it's illegal, jusy so you know. Otherwise it doesn't sound like a good idea anyway because Thompson's water repellent was made for wood, not nylon/spandex. You'd probably ruin the suit. However, you never know until you try, right?!

I personally would be scared to do that because it sounds like it would ruin the suit. If you want to make it last longer the conventional way, only wear your fastskin at your really important meets, like sectionals, states, etc., and it should last you a pretty long time
