Not economically viable without a new arena is the short answer.

yes.. it seems like even NBA is somewhat desperate to add an expansion team in Vegas. If NBA is smelling something in Vegas, then the NHL should not ignore it. By the way, why the f*ck is Kansas City even an option over PITTSBURGH?!?!?!?!What about Kansas City that the league is seeing?? other than the city offering the arena. How's Indianapolis, or Milwaukee sound?

Lemiuex is losing too much money on them and they havent done anything playoff wise (yet)

Kansas City is looking bad, and Vegas has no team in any sport other than Arena Football (i think) and maybe soccer and lacrosse. but no one REALLY cares about either of those last two sports when it comes to professionals.

Vegas is the only buyer besides Kansas City, and they are offering a good price. If the penguins win the cup or make it significantly far, however, they will have a better chance at staying. that doesnt mean they will stay, it means they will have a better chance at staying.

They had a succesful minor team there for awhile. It is the US city for entertainment-I imagine they would probably build the most outrageous arena ever built. They know how to promote and the city sits driving distance from Los Angeles, Phoenix, and Denver. Vegas makes sense-KC doesn't.
