I think you would definitely need the biological fathers consent to relinquish rights to the child before you can do this... once that is done you can have your lawyer petition the courts for adoption of the child... this may be costly and painful as the relinquishing of rights might cause the father to balk and basically put a stop to your plans...

my suggestion is go an consult a lawyer...the is a free consultation...you want to know if there is any point in going to all the effort of court battles and such...

Good luck and good for you. I hope your family has a long and happy future.

first off you have to get the fathers permission. he has to sign off on his parental rights.
he is the father and you can not just adopt someone elses child out of the blue because you want to.
and after you do adopt, you will be that childs father for life just as he/she was your natural child. complete with child support until age 21 if he is in school. if this relationship doesn't work out, you do not get off the hook!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i would think hard and long on this one if i were you!!!
if you can manage that part. call a good lawyer.

Have to get natural father to sighn off all parental rights.Go to court.Unless he has died-or say didn't sighn the birth cirtificate. What ever the case.Check out adoption laws in your county.

Probably have to go to a court and fill out forms, and make sure the birth father is willing to sign away his parental rights.
