its not a major--burning feeling, just as if id been awake for too long or had been staring at something. i dont get how thats possible since i've been sleeping, right?

Sometimes your eyes will dry out from a lack of production of tears. Try using an eye drop specifically for this such as Visine Dry Eyes or Natural Tears. If the problem persists or doesn't get better, I would suggest making an appointment with an Ophthalmologist....just so you can rule out any more serious problems that may be developing.

Check the air quality in your home. CO2, Smoke Detectors, furnace filter, mold, etc.
It could also be diet, allergy, or stress.
See an eye doctor if it continues.

That same thing happened to me. Wash your pillowcase, it worked for me! Something might have gotten into it that is irriatating your eyes.=]
