Control yourselves please this question is not about Bush or Clinton.

Captain you didn't check me very well. He admitted that he turned to the drugs to help him cope with the stress of his parents divorce. He didn't say a word about experimenting. Turned to means that he used them to help him deal with his problems.

I don't believe one word of it, I really don't believe he would abuse Cocaine, Marijuana and Alcohol .

I am he sure treated them very well and had a very good time with all 3, may not remember but had a good time none the less. By the way you left out the Ho's or was it because you did not want him to look bad.

Weed should be legal, booze is. As far as coke, meh. If he used, but did not abuse (by which I mean use consistently for more than a year) coke, the candidate's platform would matter more. I think that as a society we are too restrictive regarding "drugs". Would I vote for Obama? I don't know, I hate hillary, and hes the most likely to win if we all disregard her (Optimal situaion) but until the Green Party is a real option, I'm most likely to vote Republican.

He hasn't admitted "abusing" but experimenting like many of his generation (there is really a HUGE difference here broham) and has the guts and honesty to admit past transgression no matter how minor in the context of life, I'd definately consider Mr Obama as a worthy candidate

I would look at a whole lot more than that, but I can't honestly say I would NOT vote for someone just because of it. Our presidents are just people, like you and I. I'll admit I have used but I can also tell you it doesn't affect my abilities to do the job I have now and my job is pretty darned important.
If they are admitting it, isn;t it better than saying I didn;t inhale when most of us would know better?

Let's see you could either be talking about 75% of all Americans or Obama or Bush or Rev. Haggard. Yes I would vote for them mostly because every single person who I went to college was exactly like Obama & Bush & most of them stopped doing that stuff once they graduated & they are fine upstanding citizens today.

I know what you are talking about. I would vote for someone who has abused in the past. We all make mistakes in the past. I have too many times. At least they are being honest. What I wouldn't like is if they were still an abuser. Then I wouldn't vote for them. I vote more for character and shared values then past issues.

Depends how long ago it was, and if it is interfering with that person's life at the moment.

Quite frankly, I'd have a lot more respect for someone, regardless of party, who came forward and said, "Yes, it was a tough time in my life and I did have problems with ____ years ago. I am just glad I found my way through it, and I hope it has made me a better person."

That's a hell of a lot better than "I never inhaled" or "I broke no American laws."

Provided that they are completely clean - hell yeah. Why not. It's nice that every now and again you come across a politician who is human and has been in low places like a majority of the population. If they have beaten their addiction and they are a stronger person for it they should be ackowledged for their efforts.

I think it's good for a politician to tell the truth about everything. If anything his honesty would make me respect him more.

I wouldn't decide who to vote for based on something like that; other issues are much more important.

Obama quit at a young age. Bush continued abusing into his forties.
