I did not like the first series but after that they just got better and better. Blackadder 2 was great but Blackadder 3 was much better. Prince George was brilliant with his sayings such as "Mr thickie Black thickie Adder thickie" and "I'm so hungry I could eat a dolphin on toast". Then along came Blackadder goes forth and that sealed it - it was the best. What do you think?

Snort - ha ha ha
I loved the dictionary episode, particularly Baldricks definition of the letter C. "Big blue wobbly thing that mermaids live in". Oh yeah, and remember George trying to say antidisestablishmentarianism in another episode.

Fabulous stuff, all of it. I had all series on audio first & it's a great test of the writers' skills. (How DO you write stuff like that?) Close your eyes & imagine the visual scenes. It makes the mind use other senses - you hear the (sometimes subtle) sound effects, you can picture the looks exchanged between characters & lines selivered with perfect timing.
Loved the one where Blackadder's Puritan relatives turn up for a visit because he thinks he's going to inherit lots of money? Miriam Margolyes (APO- LOGIES for incorrect spelling - Blackadder fans will get that!) Completely brilliant all round.
I adore Hugh Laurie (House) & Stephen Fry (genius)
The whole thing is a real treasure. Teach your children well!

Blackadder 2 Miranda Richardson is excellent as Queen Elizabeth. Blackadder 3 Hugh Laurie is hilarious as Prince George. Blackadder is going Forth I enjoyed Captain Darling. Blackadder back & Forth. i be attentive to it is not a chain. ultimately The Black Adder, this is abit humorous & Brian Blessed is sturdy, thank goodness they made something distinctive. i don't have a widespread yet have consistently enjoyed Hugh Laurie so could be sequence 3.

I liked them all even series one from which Peter Cook and Elsbeth Grey (King Richard and Blackadder's mother respectively) stand out.
The second series was perhaps the best IMO, Patsy Burne as nursie and Steven Fry as the obsequious Lord Melchet. The asides between the Queen and Nursie are very funny indeed.
Oh there are so many aren't there...Hugh Laurie of course as Prinny, Robbie Coltrane as Dr Johnston. Without forgetting Tim McInnery as Percy, and of course Tony Robinson as Baldrick.
The pilot show set at the time of the Wars of the Roses, was very interesting and not at all like series one. But some characters and situations were transposed from the pilot to the first series. It makes an interesting developmental comparison.

Blackadder 3 without a doubt, particularly the dictionary episode. Very funny.

It would have to be series 3 with king George. It was so funny when the King couldn't even get his own trousers on when Blackadder was pretending to be away but was really hiding downstairs.

Blackadder goes forth was an amazing series. So funny but the last episode was also brilliantly moving.

They are all great. The characters and acting is all brilliant. I had them on video but watched them so many times that the tapes wore out so I just got it on DVD with all the extra bits.

I think the second and third series are best though. Hugh Laurie is awesome as Prince George.

The time travelling one is also quite good I thought, but it came after series 4.

Rum.They sail around the Isle of Wight til everybody gets dizzy & end up in the Tropics.Fantastic!!
