yes, its true. Its because chocolate contains theobromine. Its a natural stimulant in cocoa beans. As far as I know it increases urination and affects central nervous systems and heart muscles. Its the theobromine thats poisonous, hoewever it varies the type of chocolate, how much choclate, and how big your dog is .. and factors like that.

But White choclate is the one thats safest, its because it has the least amount of theobromine .. i think its something like 1 mg per ounce or something.

I think that is true. My 90 lb. Doberman loves chocolate, though. If a piece of chocolate falls on the floor, he will knock someone down trying to get it. He'll get into it if in it's in a bowl and even eat it with the wrapper. He's never gotten sick, but he's never been allowed to eat more than he "steals" in a moment of opportunity. I don't know how it might affect a smaller dog, but I would try to keep him from it. If nothing else, I imagine it might work like a laxative.

Yes it's true- dogs bodies can't break down a certain chemical in chocolate. I read about many dogs that died by getting to chocolate and scarfing it down (the smell of that milk is delicious I'm sure to a dog!). I accidentally had my dog consume a mini chocolate chip cookie or so- she ate it/them and was fine, I was very concenred and ensured she drank tons of water though-

Chocolate can be a poison for dogs. It turns to alcohol in their system and they can suffer dramatically with it in their body. You should never give a dog any kind of chocolate or a cocoa product.

as far as what i've been told and seen, it all depends on the dog. i have given a dog chocolate and nothing happened. but then again it was a large breed. i was told small breeds cant have it because it will speed up their heartbeat alot. So to be on the safe side , just ask your veterinarian.

I have never fed my dog chocolate, but have heard that. Also garlic is bad for dogs. You can ask your vet and they will be able to tell you things that we take for granted in our lives that can hurt your dog. Did you know most vets say not to give your dog bones, because they can splinter and choke your dog?

It's true. It's not good for their heart. I've never fed a dog chocolate. But for big dogs, a LITTLE (like the size of a hershey kiss) is okay to give them.

They can't process one of the ingredients in it, it can kill them. Depends on the size of the dog and the amount of chocolate that they eat. My lab ate a half a box of Valentine's day chocolate one time and he didn't get sick, but you never know.

Yeah, it's true. Or, at least, that's what I saw on Animal Planet show 'Animal Precinct'. Chocolate is poisonous to dogs.
