i have an old game from Sierra called Phantasmagoria. it was made for windows 95...how can i play it on XP?

i have tried to play "under windows 95 mode."

what else can i do? is there a program that simulates windows 95? i dont know what else i can do...how can i play an old game on XP? thanks in advance!

XP has the capability to run programs as earlier versions of windows. Richt click on the games icon, go to properties. In the properties window, select the compatabilty tab, select from the drop down box to run as Won 95. You may also want to disable themes and run in a lower graphics mode from the same window. This should fix your probelm. XP can run all most anything.

The reason you can't play it on XP is because windows 95 had a DOS program on it. Remember way back in the day when windows 3.1 was around? Well most games were made for DOS which was the backbone of Windows 3.1. When windows 95 came out, DOS was added in order to run the programs that windows 3.1 ran. OK now what you need is an EMULATOR for DOS. Since windows XP doesn't us DOS you will need this program to have any fun with DOS games.

Here's an option you could try...depending on how badly you want to play it...
If you have a secondary hard drive in your computer (or can put one in), make a partition and put windows 95 on secondary hdd. When you install the game, put it on that same hdd. Whenever you are doing regular stuff on your computer, load from primary hdd (windows xp) and when you want to play that game, load from secondary hdd (win 95).
