The idea behind a plea bargain is that by avoiding the trial, the defendant gets a reduced sentence (shorter time) or some other consideration. The prosecutor will often accept a reasonable plea as a cost-saving measure, or where the evidence is shaky.

As far as strategies for getting a defendant to accept a plea, that can range anywhere from making a reasonable offer to threats and trickery -- it all depends on the individual and the situation.

THis is right in my area. A plea bargain basically means that you will admit to guilt to do the time, but you are not admitting that you did the misdemeanor or crime. Usually if the prosecutor does not have a good case hell try to plea bargain, or if hes just a lazy prossy or if he is really busy hell plea. I would suggest to take the Plea.

like if you are facing 10 years they might plea bargin to 6 years if you plead guilty and not take it to trial
