it has an amd k6 433 cpu, the switch settings in question is right behind the cpu and has 8 switches on it, i've been looking for these over 2 months

misspelled that, sorry., it's the cpu voltage settings on the motherboard that i'm looking for, it also controls the charging voltage and the speed of the cpu, nothing to do with the primary voltage

volage... do you mean voltage? If you purchased it in America i'm pretty sure that it's set to the american default and cannot be changed. 120 volts.

The switch you refer to is the cpu core voltage settings. Many of the HP laptops are manufactered by ASUS and Compal. Look for the hardware specs on the HP site to find the ODM for the computer.
