At Smarties Middle school, students must receive a grade of at least 70 to pass a class. Waleed's math teacher, Mrs. Goody, plans to base her students on a total of 5 tests this 6-week period. Her students have already taken four of these tests. Waleed, who has made Mrs. Goody for his 6-period class, has made these scores: 75, 82, 74, and 85. Whcih equationcan Micheal use to find the minimum score(s) he must get on the 5th test in order to receive a passing grade this 6 weeks?

(75 + 82 + 74 + 85 + n)/5 = 70

(75+82+74+85+ x) /5 = 70

(316 +x)/5 =70
multiply 5 to both sides of equation to get rid of the divide by 5 part

316+x = 350
subtract 316 from both sides

x=34

Let x=one test.

(75+82+74+85+x) /5 = 70

75+82+74+85+x = 350

x= 350 - 316

x = 32


He will have to get at least a 32.
