no it was not a ballon, it was a craft of some sort

Many people report such experiences, and they are not lying and they are not crazy. You should not take such an experience at face value, however. Carl Jung wrote a little book on the subject that you might find of interest, although the title eludes me at the moment. If you search Jung's writings you will recognize the topic from the title. Take Jung with a grain of salt, though, too. He's not entirely trustworthy.

Yes! I did! It was my neighbor standing on top of the building spinning plates on top of sticks. It had the amazing impression of flying saucers! I didn't leave my closet for a week. Not really, but it was fun to make that up.
