Not without a legal order or protection order, restraining order, or peace bond. He has every right to have access to your joint dwelling.

If you change the locks and refuse to open the door, he can come there with Police, and if you still refuse to open, the police can legally kick your door in and arrest you for obstructing justice and interfereing with with law enforcement among other things.

Don't waste the money changing locks when you don't have the legal backing to do so.

You did this bassackwards, and you should have gotten an order by a court for such and had him thrown out by court order and not by your own whim.

Besides, if he has not been violent or anything, you have no grounds to kick him out. If you want to separate, it should you be the one that leaves unless he agrees to leave. It's you that wants him gone, but, he has a right to fight for the residence.

Look on the floor for any machined pieces of metal. I'm thinking you have a few loosed nuts and a few screws loose and they can hurt your feet if any have fallen out and you step on them.

It could depend on WHY you kicked him out.If you are afraid of him or have children who might be at risk then you should absolutely change the locks. You might also,in this case, consider a restraining order. He may return to take what is yours, hurt you or any children when you least suspect it(while sleeping, for instance)or damage the property when you are away.If this is not the case and you think you may make up at some point then you must make a decision based on that.It is definitly legal if you are in fear.

If you have kids, yes you can. If the house or anything in it is his or partially his, then yes. Stop being such a baby, and deal with him like an adult, discuss who needs to move out, and how quickly it needs to happen.

Unless your reason is because he is abusive in any way, in which case, call the police, then they will allow you to change the locks and get a restraining order. Or you can shoot him in the knee, then move his stuff for him.

No you can change the locks. if he has been abusive you will require aletter from the courts to re frame from coming anywhere near you or the home.
You need a legal and binding document. The police will require you to show this if he tries to come anywhere near the home.

If you live in an apartment and his name is on the lease of the apartment you would have to let him back in same for a house. I don't know about any other legal troubles.

Depends on what you call kicking him out? Did you literally grab him, turn him around rear back and boot his buns out, or just ask him to leave and he did? If he left on his own with no idea of returning or not, then hell yes, change the locks, change your friends, change your hair style (please) =) Do what you want! Congrats, he was a loser! Wise choice! Now who should you call to celebrate? Party time!

each state has its own laws, however you can not keep him out unless you get a police order that he is a danger to you. However put a lock on a bedroom door and move all his clothes into the living room if you have one
