My child is biracial. At the hospital the doctor was pointing out biological differences between biracial babies and other babies. I was out of it, so I couldn't really hear what she was saying. Does anybody know what special biological differences biracial babies have besides the obvious?

Were they talking about ways to check jaundice? Jaundice is common in newborns. It causes yellowing of the skin and eyes. Maybe were they discussing ways to look for jaundice? I don't know but that is the only thing I could think of?

I have to agree. My baby is biracial and my doctor never made a comment to me about the biological differences. I do thinks that's weird. It's like making a comment about every race that a baby may have. People have had biracial babies for a long, long time... Weird comment that your doc made. Maybe you should call and ask.

I am confused as to why she would comment on the difference between biracial and other babies?? I am hoping you misunderstood because she shouldn't have stated any differences since alot of people could take offense to it!! My son is black, Mexican,Arabic and white-- he has alot of different races all mixed in one and he does have alot of different features from each race, and even though it is obvious there is going to be differences in all races she was wrong to point it out..

I think they are both the same. It might be that one child is the same color and the other is a different color. I'm white and my son's father is mexican. So that makes my son mixed with white and mexican. There is no child ask to be brought in the world mixed. But love your child no matter the color.

There were probably just talking about your babies hair or skin. I wouldn't even worry about it, bi-racial or not you never know what texture your babies hair will be or tone of skin. Plus it doesn't matter, I don't know why doctors make a fuss over it. One of the nurses who weighed my daughter was going on and on about her hair.

My son is biracial, and no medical professional has ever commented on it....

dunno about biological differences, but your baby is probably a beautiful mix of the two parents :).... like my gorgeous girl. there may be things specific to each race (eg. some babies of different races have the mongolian spot on their bum) but nothing regarding the two races combined....

I have heard bi racial babies have a little blue mark on their backside maybe that is what he meant. Not sure if this is true or not but check.
