Well in case anyone wants to know I am straight and proud of it!!!

As to your question...I didn't know what "gay" even meant till I was in junior high. Not that I was sheltered or anything but I just never heard of anyone in the area that I lived in being gay.I had my very first encounter with a girl while I was trying to go to sleep.I asked her why she tried to kiss me and she said "I think you're really pretty and I just wanted to".

In my opinion no is gay from birth. They're confused from adolescence.

We were just always gay from childhood. Sometimes you can tell that children might grow up homosexual because they are more interested in the opposite sex gender roles (they could be str8 or bi too), the kid personality and interest is different than what is expected but then there's other homosexual people who blend in with straight people. They would be the people who would shock you if they came out as homosexual.

I knew since I was as young as 7 that I liked boys and I was messing with them males at a young age but stopped. I didn't know that I would be spending the rest of my life liking men. When I was about 14 years old I knew that I was gay, the feelings of wanting to have sex and fall in love with other males didn't go away and everybody used to wonder if I was gay but I didn't come out until I got older. I knew that I liked guys but I was so afraid of being different.

I always knew I'm a lesbian. Straight people don't generally go around saying they always knew what they were because nobody really questions straight people about being straight. That's the reason. If you were gay, you'd find yourself explaining all kinds of things to people and defending yourself because we have no rights and people around here are idiots. If you want to understand, then try to. But I know more about gay people than any of the straight people out here, and you're born gay or not. It's not a choice. Gay people fall in love just like anyone else does - it's not all about sex like some of you assume. I have a wife and we are married in all of the bonds of true love, even if the law doesn't recognize it. The bonds of real love cannot be broken by laws or any other bigotry.

Why you're ignorant.
Gay people don't have a choice. They (I'm not gay but I'm not arrogant) are born that way (most) and they never said they thought about sex they just could tell by the way they acted. Asking a gay person when they decided to be gay is like asking me when I decided to be straight. I didn't! That's just who I am.

A sex drive does not kick in until puberty so how can you be sexually attracted to the same sex person at an early age??? Honestly a gay person will excuse their addictive lifestyle with any excuse.

*rolls eyes* I can't speak for all gays, but I didn't KNOW I was gay until about 11 or 12. I just knew that I didn't feel anything for guys. at all. I did however love to chase and tease the girls. So, you do the math.

Some homosexual people have always known that they were attracted to people of the same sex. Straight people do not have to answer questions about their sexual orientation. No one asks straight people how long they have been straight. I guess no one finds straight peoples orientation all that interesting...

Straights don't have to because nobody bothers to ask them about it. Gay people get quizzed as though they have to justify being gay.

Why do people bungee jump? Why do people climb mountains? Why do people invent rubber dog poo? Just because you do not understand why people feel the way they feel or do what they do, doesn't mean they're wrong. They're just different from you. Celebrate the differences. After all, they're no threat to you and your lifestyle. Live and let live.

No i think they mean in retrospect...I didn't know what straight or gay was when I was a kid...but looking back now...I should have known then that I was gay...

Probably because nobody was questioning straight people's orientations so they had to think about it.

When people say that, I don't think they mean it literally- as little babies, they weren't contemplating love of the same sex- but rather expressing that their sexuality is innate and they've never been unsure or uncertain about what they liked, just like most straight people.

Hope that helps.
