This means NOT in the scientific part of television technology, like color tv or stereo broadcasts, I'm asking about televised milestones or momentous events that were televised. This is for a project I'm putting together on television history.

Thanks y'all!

I agree with some of the previous ones. Here is my list:

1. Kennedy assassination weekend funeral coverage, especially John Jr. saluting his father's passing coffin
2. Lee Harvey Oswald getting shot by Jack Ruby on live television
3. The Baltimore Colts sudden death victory over the New York Giants on New Year's Eve 1958
4. The Nat King Cole television program's debut (the first featuring a black entertainer in a leading role)
5. Apollo 11 moon landing and Neil Armstrong's historic first step on the moon on July 20, 1969
6. Final episode of M*A*S*H in 1983.
7. Beatles first appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show in February of 1964
8. Motown's 25 Anniversary Reunion program in 1983 when the new Michael Jackson debuted and first performed the moonwalk.
9. Debut of MTV on August 1, 1981
10. Walter Cronkite's final news broadcast in 1981.
11. Season finale of Dallas with the first season ending cliffhanger in history
12. Game 6 of the 1975 World Series in which Carleton Fisk hit a game winning homerun in the 12th inning at nearly 12:30 in the morning (EST)

There are just twelve. I'm sure I've left some out but thats a few I thought of.

You have to include the airing of the last episode of Mash, the most watched episode of any series, EVER. "Goodbye, Fairwell and Amen" It was on 2-28-83.

Also, I think you have to include Edward R. Murrow's 10-15-58 speech about television being a wasteland.

The first Persian Gulf War of 1991 was the first war televised practically 24-7 on CNN. Another milestone.

Hmm, also probably the Real World's first season on MTV.

Heck, don't forget MTV's debut.

Vietnam was the first truly televised war for the Americans, the historically significant milestone came when the American people saw footage that was shot during the Tet Offensive starting January 30th, 1968. For the American people, who had been under the impression they were winning this war, to see VC sappers attacking the U.S. Embassy in Saigon, a sudden shock overcame many viewers and led to their disillusionment with the war - suddenly it seemed unwinnable, or it would be won only after thousands and thousands more Vietnamese and Americans had died.

Let's not forget about Armstrong walking on the moon. It was not only a momentous occasion for mankind, it was also a rather large feat technologically as well. Props for the guy who came up with a live TV camera that works on the MOON, for cryin' out loud!

Thrash replaced into in finished swing on the time, so it wasn't precisely groundbreaking in that sense. yet, it replaced into the 1st Thrash album to be advertised commercially. Mainstream in case you will. They have been given a admired Rap producer and positioned it on a important Rap label, which replaced into i think of volatile. in spite of if it replaced into met with intense compliment and it replaced into all I listened to for 3 weeks. What makes it a key album is the production. Rubin stripped away each and all the pointless consequences like reverb and stereo refrain, and positioned out a not something yet on your face steel Masterpiece. He additionally presented that form of drum combination which inspired many bands sound from that element on. Pantera is one that comprises concepts.
