The jet sizes are different. LPG is stored at high pressure (hence the compressed gas turns to a Liquid) and by reason of this higher pressure it requires smaller jets than Natural Gas does on your BBQ. Nothing to do with the regulator. many a hairless arm has been caused by trying to run LPG gas through those big natural gas jets.

If the grill has a gas jet which I'm suer it does you must have the jet changed from natural gas to propane. Natural gas runs at a lower pressure than propane and therefore uses a jet of larger size. Some new appliances are designed so that they cannot be changed, probably to assure that you buy a new appliance instead of simply converting one.

You'll need to change the jet size to a smaller one as propane burns much hotter than natural gas. Aside from that nothing. The manufacturer of the BBQ will be able to provide you the new jets.
