Say you know your mate is going through something mentally deep, but to you it seems like he's neglecting you. What would YOU do? Why?

I would say if you know what's bothering him figure out a way to understand why he wants to deal with it alone. If you constantly push him he will only pull away. I think it's best you help him when he needs you in the mean time do something for yourself.

Give him the space he obviously wants and needs and rejoice in the time I have to spend on myself and be there for him when he is ready to get back into the swing of things.

I stop talking to them! I tell them "We all go through stuff all the time, and we don't stop talking to people just because of that, life goes on, so don't give me that "I am going through stuff""

Just talk to him and try to make it better and then if he dont react go find happiness at the bottom of a cookie jar or something.
