Try the Blues. Both bands were heavily influenced by Blues music: Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, B.B. King, Albert King, Albert Collins, Magic Slim, etc., etc. Easy to research on the 'net. You will probably gravitate more to the Chicago Blues/electric blues than folk blues, which are a little too distant from Led Zep and Hendrix. You might like Traffic, Cream, and Blind Faith, too.

Janis Joplin, Pink Floyd, Grateful Dead, The Who, Think "Woodstock 69". If you listen to classic rock, you pretty much like everything from the genre.
