There are many instances that I experienced that brought this question up.

Just to give u guys an example:

I was at a party a few weeks ago and it had about an equal amount of blacks and whites. There was a DJ at this party and he liked to mix it up by playing rock and hip hop music at different times. So when I was sitting down with a friend, I noticed that when hiphop music was being played, both black and white people would get up & dance to it. But when it would switch to rock, most of the black people would sit down & scratch their heads, or just go to a corner to chill.

But yeah, is there a reason why this is?

I've actually seen this happen many times..me personally i love all music and if i can dance to it i will. But i think its like a social thing. Like if some people feel that its not cool to dance to rock music than other people might follow the and do the same or it could just be the perference of the majority.

I like some rock, especially System of a Down.

I go to a hip hop club and they usually play exclusively hip hop, but every once in a while one of the DJs plays Nirvana's Smell Like Teen Spirit. Everybody still dances to it. That's a good song no matter what race you are.

You can't dance to rock. Sure you can jump up in down, nod your head, throw each other around and "mosh" but that isn't dancing. I like some rock but I have never heard a rock song and thought it was something to dance to. I see people dancing but the dancing usually isn't anything worth watching and in my opinion, doing.

Culture. Blacks are probably more into the beat and lyrics of hip hop, but don't "feel" the vibe from a guitar.

I believe its fashion. It fashionable to wear huge jeans, pulled down to show your underwear. Hat on sideways,a toilet faucet hanging off a chain around your neck. The way i can hold a gun on its side. These kids will grow up and realize its not fashionable to be Black, but be proud your not Black.
