I am looking for a safe place to run in the evenings in San Diego, but can't find anywhere that I would even dream of going alone.... Any suggestions?

Go to La Jolla Shores, there are always lots of people there, and a lot of them are walking or running along the beach. You can park near the beach (exept on summer afternoons!) and there's a bathroom nearby.

If you run anywhere near the beach, like on the boardwalk and stuff, then it's safe because everyone else goes there. Also, near Lajolla is safe but stay close to the beach, like 3 streets back parallel to the beach is the safest but you can run pretty much anywhere in san diego because it's in the top 3 safest "biggest" cities in the nation,(Honalulu and New York being 1st and 2nd.)

Try running along harbour drive. If you do that in the evening, say 4ish, its slightly cooler and on the weekends its quite packed with people. Not very pack, but enough to feel safe.

Besides you can see some cute little dogs running about and ipod-runners prancing around. I'm new here, ... and while I stay at the Residence Inn I've never had second thoughts running along harbour drive.

And if you're tired there's always someplace to get a drink or enjoy the view.

Maybe we might bump into each other as well.

San Diego is safe in most areas. Del Mar and other areas nearby are great with good lighting and safety.

Coronado Beach for evening runs, and Cowles Mountain for running during the day! Both are great.

At the gym; it's easier on the legs and much safer.
