Thanks so much for the answers. So far im really happy with the amount of people who believe it should be allowed. Im glad people are so accepting and believe that all people, no matter sexuality, race, religion, should have the same rights.

Yes. People are born equal and sexual preference should be of no consequence.
There already are place that consider gay marriages to be equal to that of a straight couple (as they should).

Yeah, the whole marriage thing. I'm for it but...

See heres the thing. The government will grant legal sanction to what is essentially a social institution. That is it is issuing a LICENSE for a contract. What other contract between two parties requires a license ? I'm not sure the State should really be in the business of marriage for anyone, gay or straight.

That being said, what we have on our hands here is an "equal protection under the law" situation. If straight folks can get married, then by gosh gay folks should be able to get married too. Consenting adults that can enter into contracts must be treated equally under the law, or the law is worthless.

So yes. I'm in favor of gay marriage...but....

equal right and free will should mean what it says... a gay marriage will not affect a hetero marriage unless the hetero couple lets it.. No gay couple wants to come between another couple much less a hetero couple.. I would love the right to marry my gf. But since there are more narrowminded insecure hetero's out there it wont happen soon. I'm not saying all hetero's are narrowminded, just the majority. But when you have someone insecure of their own sexuality they will always hate homosexuals, and aslong as some hetero couples are insecure with their own marriage then they will continue to be afraid of same sex marriages..

In my opinion, marriage is a human right. The only argument against gay marriage is religious, or the less intelligent, "it's just gross" argument. Our country is defined by FREEDOM of religion. Thus, the United States should not force a religious opinion on others by telling them they can't marry the HUMAN they choose.

Additionally, if it is said that it is for procreation, they should not allow sterile couples to marry. If it is due to the sanctity of Marriage, then divorced people should not get a tax exemption for their 2nd, 3rd, 4th marriages AND they should not be allowed to get health insurance on those spouses either.

You won't achieve anything against gays preventing them from marrying. They'll still live together and there are plenty who have children anyway.

Not allowing them to be married or to adopt is just plain acting up. It's just a matter of time until all people are treated equally and fairly.

I was born and raised in this country, I work full-time and pay my taxes and bills on time. I'm in a committed, monogamous relationship.....and I want to get married! why should I be denied the rights other citizens in this country have?

Yes, I believe it should be allowed. Love between two people should be legalized if the individuals wish to do so.

I think gay marriage should be allowed. The government doesn't have the right to say who we can and can not marry.

Well you'll hear your opinion repeated then. Yes, gay marriage should be legalized. Gay couples should also be allowed to raise children.

Pro-marriage, pro-family.
