Why don't you ask them? Maybe they aren't trying?
It could be a number of factors.

It took 8 years for my son and his wife to conceive a child. Now they have a beautiful little girl two weeks old. They were both checked out and nothing was wrong, it just took some time. So if they were both checked out by their doctors, then they should just relax and it will happen.

Either they're not trying hard enough. Its all about the timing. Maybe she should talk to her OB/GYN about trying to conceive.

They might not be timing sex correctly. They have to have sex while she is ovulating.
