My aunt has enlisted my help in finding out how to get donations for her Soup Kitchen at church..presently everything is out of pocket for her and anyone else that decides to bring a dish. She's on a fixed income and this was something to keep her busy after my uncle passed. She's just trying to feed the needy. I don't know what is going on with the church itself and why they aren't helping but any info would be of great help.

Make up flyers and give them to area restaurants and grocery stores to ask for donations of stuff that's near expiration or left over.
Be sure to let them know you will provide the 501(c)3 donation number when you get donations, so that they can get tax deductions.
Then you should be just fine!
