There are many programs now that allow inmates to do good for the city, and rehabilitate animals that aren't ready for families yet. It is also believed that if certain prisoners aren't able to express themselves in a particular way to people, then they often find a friend in animals. That was probably the only company that he has. In teaching the animal how to properly respond and behave, the person is irronically teaching something that he probably should have learned himself. You'd be surprised how an animal can change a person.

I read somewhere that prisoners get animals to help them while they are incarcarated. They train dogs and keep birds and cats as pets. It's for the prisoner who have been on good behavior, it's suppose to teach them how to care for something other than themselves and show them responsiblity. That way when they get out they know a little more about responsibility than when they went in.

dude, just shows life imprisonment is totally pointless, he's probably gonna end up gettin psychiatric help, which will cost the general public even more than the amount he's already drainin from us. personally think all that money could be goin to schools etc. sounds real harsh but is keepin someone locked up that long really better than destroyin him? if others suffer because of his continuation then we doin the wrong thing.

They let you have pets in prison?! Jeez, free food, a place to sleep, things to do like watching tv and reading, keeping pets, no bills, sounds like a vacation to me. That's pretty creepy that the guy is reading to the poor cat though.

hmm...well after having my little chuckle, I realized it is human behavior. Animals have just as much an opportunity to become like family to most people. Being that he is in jail and probably mostly alone it seems natural that he would befriend an animal.
Only thing that boggles me is...WTF, who lets prisoners have pets?!? I mean...not that its bad or nothing like that. It just seems as though it would be something they would ban.

As long as the cat is being well cared for, no problem. I doubt the cat cares whether its owner is a felon or a saint.

That is pretty sad, almost as bad as 2 of our border patrol agents being locked up for trying to keep our country safe.

Nothing wrong with that. Being in prison day in and day out, I'd be talking to the walls if I had to.
