And hes got a girlfriend and i think "good for him!" instead of "dang it!" and I'm afraid that if I'm nice then he will think I'm hitting in him and his gf will probably get real mad at me! I'm the kinda girl who won't start a fight and i want to try to get along!

He would be full of himself if he thought that. Act naturally with both and don't give either one an excuse to think of it.
Your a nice person generally, so I don't see why he would take
a word or smile either way.
It would be vain person who would think so. As for the Gf, forget her. If she's not mature enough to accept the fact you only want to remain friends with your ex she is the one with the problem.
It only means she has a few insecurity problems, and that the relationship is not as strong as she would hope.

Do you still like him? Make it clear that you just want to be friends with him, then his girlfriend wont get mad. You have every right to be friends with a guy who has a girlfriend.

yeah i think that way too. most people i guess dont think that way and it causes problems. i guess few can rise above the head games and try to be pleasant to all people. but so few people do that...it makes it difficult for others to not think your intentions are kind....they think its with malicious intent. what can you do about it? well, i find it harder and harder to bother being nice because of it....and stay away from people. better they think im a loner or stuck up than deal with petty head games. peace

see.. well im a tomboy but i used to like this guy so i acted girly around him and i figured out he liked me back... but he stopped and i did too.. i want to be his friend but... he still thinks i like him. so... i dont act like a girl around him. to not to give guys the wrong message...i become their best friend by acting regular...(tomboy). this might not help you but...try to be his buddy... like joke around or invite him to like a party where there is more people ( invite his gf too) this way she wont be mad... did that kind of help?

So then, don't be too nice to him.
Simple as that. really. even if you want to be "good friends," keep your cool for awhile.

just be friendly, but not flirty. become friends with his girl friend. that'll (most likely) keep her from thinking you are hitting on her boy friend.
