Well, they first scared me when I saw Pennywise the clown in the movie IT. Also, I agree with everyone who stated John Wayne Gacy.

all that make up! and the way they act all happy to much happy can really freak a person out! thats why i dont go anywhere where i know were clowns are i mite run away and cry lol jk!

They don't, so I couldn't really tell why some people are scared by them...maybe it's the fact that they don't look like normal people...I mean, thinking about children who are scared of them...
