From Benjamin Franklin to Ben & Jerry, William Penn to Bill Gates, Eli Whitney to Oprah Winfrey, entrepreneurs have shaped the cultural landscape and formed successful and thriving businesses which employ millions of people. They are the creative people, the risk-takers, who work very hard to develop new ideas, technologies and things that improve the quality of our lives.

In order to be viable, a business needs to profit. Yes...profit! That apparently is a dirty word in the liberal lexicon. But wthout this incentive, entrepreneurs would never go into business in the first place.

Why do liberals hate those who strive for excellence?

I don't think liberals mind entrepreneurs per se. It's the guilt that goes along with profit that is the hard part.

Bill Gates success probably had a lot to do with Steve Job's acid trip way back when Xerox gave away the GUI we use today. Imagine if we'd all used Macs.

There would be no Windows Me, Windows XP (Extra Problems), and you probably would never need to call the Geek Squad.

When a beginning entrepreneur is taxed as much a 7 figure earning CEO, entrepreneur-ism is pretty much stifled. Would you not agree? Why do you wish to tax the middle class so that the wealthy can enjoy the good life?

They don't. And profit is not a dirty word to Liberals.

Now the phrase "robber baron", yep. There are limits to the "good" the market can do. Just like there are limits to what charity can do.

The trick is to balance both for the betterment of all.

Simply there is a line between exploitation and profit... -a fine line for some- -an unbelievably clear one for others- -and ones that aren't recognized easily-...

The simple minded ( or people who don't see things... lie to themselves or are just plain lazy) don't try to see or see anything.

Simple gets complicated with simpletons who actually have a few brain cells to rub together.

Just who are you addressing when you use the label "Liberals"? If you are speaking of Republicans, say so, if you are speaking of Democrats, say so, don't continue to hide your message behind a Label! At times I am liberal, at other times I am a conservative. So what label fits me? This labeling is just nonsense!

Last I checked, they didn't...
According to Wikipedia it states:
Liberalism refers to a broad array of related doctrines, ideologies, philosophical views, and political traditions which hold that individual liberty is the primary political value.[1] Liberalism has its roots in the Western Age of Enlightenment, but the term has taken on different meanings in different time periods.

Broadly speaking, liberalism emphasizes individual rights. It seeks a society characterized by freedom of thought for individuals, limitations on power (especially of government and religion), the rule of law, the free exchange of ideas, a market economy that supports free private enterprise, and a transparent system of government in which the rights of all citizens are protected.[2] In modern society, liberals favor a liberal democracy with open and fair elections, where all citizens have equal rights by law and an equal opportunity to succeed.[3]

Many new liberals advocate a greater degree of government influence in the free market to protect what they perceive to be natural rights, often in the form of anti-discrimination laws, universal education, and progressive taxation. This philosophy frequently extends to a belief that the government should provide for a degree of general welfare, including benefits for the unemployed, housing for the homeless, and medical care for the sick. Such publicly-funded initiatives in the market are rejected as interference by modern advocates of classical liberalism, which emphasizes free private enterprise, individual property rights and freedom of contract; classical liberals hold that economic inequality, as arising naturally from competition in the free market, does not justify the violation of private property rights.

Liberalism rejected many foundational assumptions which dominated most earlier theories of government, such as the Divine Right of Kings, hereditary status, and established religion. Fundamental human rights that all liberals support include the right to life, liberty, and property.
