I really dont think they ever get into why... i belive she doesnt die until the second book, which is long after the movie...( its been a real long time since i read those. i think they they hint at it being from her sleepign around. Check out the books, they are a good read and go real fast/

Yes, AIDS. Although you don't die from the virus itself, you die from the diseases you get as a result of the damaged immune system. So it could have been one of any number of diseases.

Yes, she died from AIDS. When she was telling Forrest about how she was sick, she told him the docters told her she had a "virus" they didn't have a name for yet.
So that leads me to believe she contracted HIV, and died of AIDS.

It is implied that it AIDS killed Jenny. Remember her use of needles? It was some new disease doctors "didn't have a name for yet".

i think it was cancer maybe. all it ever said was a mysterious illness, try reading the book (ive been trying to get around to it, but im too lazy)

I don't know but I know I about dropped dead from boredom watching that movie. I still hate that movie no matter how many people love it.
