They need to get over it and learn to live in the present. They more they bring it up the less chance that they will get passed it. That was then and this is now. None these people alive now were slaves or slave owners.

Because when you do something wrong whether it is today or yesterday you apologize. Doesn't matter if it is a government or individual. We can apologize to everyone but not African Americans. Everyone has apologize for the Holocaust, the Japanese were forced into interment camps during World War II and we apologized, Rosa Parks was hauled off to jail because she refused to give her seat up to a White man and after 40 years we apologized. Had we apologized hundreds of years ago for slavery, there would be no need to apologize today. When your country does something wrong, you correct it, apologize and move on. Had you experienced these things you would want an apology instead of arrogant comments like "biggest crock...." Native Americans were given small Pox, had you been a Native American you would want an apology. There are pedophiles running around kidnapping kids, raping them and burying their bodies , and if you were the Mother or Father of these kids you would want an "Apology" It is not about being politically correct, it is about doing what is right.

Past is history which if full of such horrible events. We should concentrate on improving the present condition and promote world peace. Present laws condemns such practices. This is not advisable to open dark chapters of history anywhere in the world.

Okay; give it to them. While they're at it make the African tribal leaders appologise for selling them to the slavers in the first place to raise profit. While we're all in the appologisin business why don't we have the Africans appologise for enslaving the Jews during the time they were enslaved under Pharoe's Army.

I think this calls for a "non-binding" resolution apologizing for slavery.

If any of them can show that they were ever slaves, they deserve an apology. Otherwise.....we all have ancestors who were screwed over. Get over it.
