All the summary links are great, and they answer you question. However, in the time you took to post this question, check the answers, comment on the second answer, and check back again, and read the links, you could have read the book.
It is a well written story, not too long. I read it in less than an hour. Give it a shot.

i myself think of you could study the books they're marvelous, yet right it particularly is a precis. Frodo's uncle Bilbo has a magic ring that makes people turn invisible. whilst Bilbo leaves Frodo the hoop Gandalf take place and tells him he has to take the hoop to Rivendell (residing house of the elves) to maintain it out of the palms of evil dude Sauron who made it and needs it lower back. it is approximately all Imma provide ya on that e book. Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas are off to discover Merry and Pippin who have been captured by skill of orcs and uruk-hai. Ta-da! wish I helped :) in case you pick from now on than that, then you're going to could study it. it particularly is particularly long and sophisticated yet completely nicely worth it!
