i think this model year has another fuel pump on the frame rail. these pumps usually dont fail, but it is common to have a poor wire connection at the pump. you should be able to hear the pump run for about 2 seconds when you turn the key to the run position, without cranking the engine. if you dont hear the pump run, there is a electrical problem. possible pump relay, fuel cut off switch, wiring, ground, or a gizillion other possibilities. the best thing to do is get a professional to diagnose it. it will save time and money in the long run.....it wasnt alot of fun to replace the fuel pump for nothing, was it?

Dont some of these fords have a safety switch in the rear of the vehicle so that if you are hit from behind it will kill the fuel pump?? I would check on that and also check the fuel pump relay. Can you hear the fuel pump running when you turn the key on??

The first thing you need to do is read the error codes on the ECM. The ECM will usually (but not always) tell you what the problem is. Otherwise, you and anyone else who doesn't check the codes are just guessing. You can spend a lot of money on unnecessary parts unless you KNOW what the problem is. If you do not know how to read the codes, you are probably already in over your head.
Good Luck!
