The real question is do Americans understand the whole constitution?

It's only one example, but this survey found out of a 1,000 Americans 35% of them thought a line from Karl Marx came from the Constitution...

One can ask the same question of conservatives.

For instance: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."

So, there should be no mention of religion in government. This means no "under God" said in the Pledge in schools which are government entities. This means that "In God We Trust" is unconstitutional. This means that protesters outside the Republican Convention should not have been herded to other areas.

Shall we go on about how conservatives ignore parts of the Constitution to suit their purposes? I thought not.

In case you missed it, the American Bar Association has done a study on Bush and how he has broken laws of the Constitution repeatedly. Their conference was on CSPAN. CSPAN is not liberal or conservative. They just relate what is actually transpiring with live coverage.

U.S. Presidents take an oath to uphold the Constitution, not rewrite it. We should all be pretty worried about this man and what he is doing to this country.

Do Christian Fundy's follow the whole constitution? Or just the parts they want to follow?

It's kinda hard to follow the constitution when it has been rewritten, rearranged and changed to suit George Bush's whims. Other than that I think Liberals understand it much better than most conslurvatives.

George Bush was overheard once asking, "What constitution?"

Now who has egg on their face? I understand the Constitution very well, thank you. I understand, moreover, that it is a dynamic document that one cannot simply choose to follow or not, like Bush has done.

I think both parties do a pretty good job of ignoring that which doesn't suit them in the constitution.
