Its an old black and white film, it is about a white woman with a little girl, who employs a black lady with a little girl. The two girls grow up like sisters, but the black ladies daughter is mixed race and is ashamed of background and pretends to be white. Needless to say, when the mother dies, the lady who she worked for (and obviously had a good friendship with) throws her a big funeral, with horse drawn coffin etc and then the daughter turns up at the funeral, screaming Momma - Oh Momma and throws herself at the coffin. Can anyone think what its called?

The movie is called Imitation of Life, and the original is NOT with Lana Turner, but with the wonderful Claudette Colbert.

The original from 1934 is wonderful, I count it among my top 10 all-time. The remake with Lana and Sandra trite and boring by comparison.

If you like the original, then you would like the book by the same name from Fannie Hurst. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imitation_of_Life_%28novel%29

The name is "Imitation of Life". I watched it with my grandmother years ago. That's one of the saddest movies ever made!
