Is anyone else completely disillusioned by modern life? Are you unnerved by the infinite shades of gray? Are you disgusted by the current pop-culture, politics . . . Are you tempted to gobble inhuman quantities LSD, bennies, reds, grass, & tequila, blast "Soul Finger" by the Bar Kays out of the Hi-Fi, and blow all of the windows out of your apartment with a .44 Magnum?

completely disillusioned by modern life? No

I have fun with them.

I ask auto dealers for stripped models - standards w/air
I ask the phone company for a rotary phone
I ask for the exact oposite of what they want to sell me
I turned off the TV and stopped getting the paper
(my grade school teacher would have flunked them for the typos and spelling errors)

BTY gray has always been out there - just in the past the voices insisted that there was only one right and wrong. (They were wrong in the end)

Wowie! I didn't know anyone else out there got as frustrated as I do with society these days. It seems the world is made up of liars, cheaters, and insaniacs. As far as tempted by LSD, I'm not. Guns aren't my thing either. Whenever I get the urge to run screaming into the wilderness and live like a cavewoman, I try to look for true beauty and goodness in the world. Cuddle up a puppy. They are great sources of truth and snuggles, or just sit down and have a glass of wine. Do not self destruct, or you become no better than the rest of the world you would like to escape.

I'm not, but it's easy to understand how you feel. Try to ignore what's "out there", and build your own world. Find a hobby you like, ignore the newspapers and TV, take up a musical instrument and play your own music, or write or paint. You might have an artistic temperament, and you need to build your own means of expression, since the stuff available from society ain't doing it for you. And you're right. Most of it all sucks.

Yes. Looked at another way..... Are extreme boredom and the total jaw dropping reaction of the absurd and idiotic actions we see each day more an indictment of who we are as a person, rather than an out of whack society? I think we feel and think this way because of our lack of self-worth. The way we think and feel might be dead on accurate, but what good does it do if we do nothing to counteract it?

I think if one doesn't question life enough to become disenchanted or disillusioned from time to time, they aren't fully living. It might be hard, but at least you aren't floating in and out of the events going on around you aimlessly. Disillusionment is a sign of thought.

I agreed with you, up until the drug part. And blowing out the windows with a gun would only get ya arrested. But yes, I am sick of the modern world.

Makes me feel sad for the up and coming generation at what they will be exposed to and how hard it is to please them and get their attention. The media desentizes them, modern culture...well, anything goes. Wish technology would be taught to be used more wisely instead of abused. Maybe in the 50-70's they had it right, family first, not much distraction, etc.

I don't think doing a massive amount of drugs and trying to live in the '60s would help. Life is what you make of it. Read the magazines and books that YOU want, watch what YOU want on TV and the movies. You can go where you want, talk to who you want, and do what you want. Make your own little world.
