This is not important. 8th grade parties are not important at all. Being part of the crowd is not important. Stop wasting peoples time. Stop wasting your own time. You will thank me later if you do.

venue with dance floor, dj, not that much food or plans, just music and let the kids do what they want. 8th grades is a period when kids just want independence and feel older than they are. So a club environment with minimal parental interaction is perfect!

Board games are easy entertainment. Also, you could ask a few people if they want to showcase a special talent or perform a little skit.
