Would this be an America you would want to call home?

They want a caste society. The ultra rich and the ultra poor. With a very small middle class. They want America to be a bunch of peasants and work for $2 a day like they used to.

They don't realize that this country's strength is its middle class. Once it is gone, the country will cease to exist, But they don't care as long as they have theirs. As long as they have theirs, they will have their own security forces and schools for their children, while us peasants toil in the fields or in their factories for less money a day than it costs to live.

No, it is not a place I will want to live.

The Conservative Republican vision of America is the shining city on a hill that Ronald Reagan spoke of.

America would live up to its noblest goals, and we would be the defenders of the weak. We would once again be viewed as Superman, coming to the rescue.

School children would take a civics class, like their grandparents did, so they would learn how America is supposed to function, what it stands for, and what a citizens responsibilities (not just their rights) are.

Irresponsible people would no longer be the taxpayers' burden. Private charities would have to bail out the welfare mommas who want to pump out some kids for the fun of it.

The ACLU would return to handling cases that would have made our Founding Fathers proud, not induce them to vomit in disgust.

The media would learn self-restraint, and not try to make sensationalist stories out of every unfortunate sound bite they can get their hands on. Imagine if JFK, at the time of the Cuban Missile Crisis, had been hounded by the press for his infidelities the way Clinton was. JFK would have been so distracted that catastrophic mistakes could easily have been made. If we are ever to get good Presidential candidates, the press has to stop the microscoping examination they put everyone through. No desirable candidate can stand up to this type of invasive scrutiny, which is why we only have bland, mediocre candidates, with no real scandalous deficiencies, but not a lot to offer either.

Oh, and last thing, in our vision, Ronald Reagan gets his own Mt. Rushmore, with future greats to be added later (perhaps Condaleezza Rice, after her Presidency)

The Republicans do not have a vision. Except to win the next election.

But neither do the democrats.

The Republicans are for a balanced budget -- except when a Republican proposes a budget with a deficit -- then it is ok.

The Republicans believe in not committing American troops where America does not have a vested interest (indeed, Bush ran on this platform, against US participation in UN activities such as Somalia). Unless, of course, a Republican President wants a war in a country where we do NOT have a vested interest.

The Republicans believe in less government, unless they have a Republican President (in which case the largest domestic increase in programs can be traced, in order, to George W. Bush, Ronald Reagan, and then George Bush (Sr.).

Meanwhile, the Democrats are no better, simply taking whatever position the Republicans do not take, and hoping that this gives them votes.

Economics: Corporate Fiefdom

Politics: Theocracy isn't the word, because that is the rule of God. But God didn't do us the favor of making governments....is there a word for fanatical religious despotism?

Lower taxes, smaller government, and the constitution would be obeyed not ignored.

As long as neo-cons and the religious right didn't control the party and the policies.. yes I'd live in that America.

Their vision for America? Beat the sh*t out her and waste her treasury, drive up the debt and the debt to China, and make slaves out her inhabitants. No, it is not a country I would want to call home.

Their vision has been extremely skewed by the neo-con onslaught and takeover of the republican party.
