Has anyone figured out what's up with this top contributor?? How do you become one - seriously??

Get a lot of BA's in a specific category.
I have about 70% BA's and most of the questions I answer are in the biology section, so shock and surprise I'm a TC for biology.
The thing about it though is it screws anyone who just answers for any category. You have to spend most of your time in a single category and get the majority of your BA's there.
Yamster says (the Answers staff hamster):
"Top Contributors are not necessarily determined by an Answerer's level. A Top Contributor is an Answerer whose Q&A shows that they are knowledgeable in a specific category. You can become a top contributor in up to three categories. The more active you are in any respective category, the more likely you'll become a Top Contributor for that category.
Good luck!"
"The top contributor badge is dynamic--you earn it or lose it depending on your recent participation in a particular category. The more actively you contribute in that category, the more likely you will earn a badge there. Just like featured users or category leaders, it's another way to feature community members who might otherwise be overlooked."

The Y! Answers team has been offering up a pretty generic answer. I don't think anyone else knows exactly how. But by reading & putting what looks like good answers together, I'd say they have some sort of program that looks at how many questions you've answered in a single category and maybe takes your Best Answer percentage into consideration.

There is no reasoning to it. I've seen some people at lower levels with less points and not very many best answers that have the TC banner. Others are at higher levels with lots of points plus a lot of Best Answers who don't have them. What ever the rational was behind this stupidity it has caused some hurt feelings and is dividing the group up. It's a very sad day here.

When you click your mouse on the little orange box, it says a top contributor is one who is knowledgeable in a particular category

i was wondering the same thing. i answer a lot of questions in this section and i have one so i guess if you answer a lot of questions in a certain section you get one, im not all that sure though.

but they said that you have to have alot of Best Answers on the given category, MAYBE!

i just hang out in p n s .hardly ever in any other category i answer a couple in others. anyway i think that's just it...personally i think its pointless but i like the contact adding feature.

its the person who has answered the most questions either, in that section or any section (not sure which one it is)
answer alot of questions.
