I lived in a rent home for about 6-8 months inbetween that time my landlord gave me items that were in the house before I moved in. Some items I had to pay her for, which I did before I moved. Well, I did not give her any personal information before moving in, she does not know my birthdate or social security number. When, I moved she went biserck and said she was going to file charges on me for taking $1500 worth of stuff, which I paid for and I have documentation of it. Could she sue me if she does not know my where-abouts, and social security number or birthdate (just my name), she has no right to sue me but it kinda just creeps me out. her saying that.
IS IT POSSIBLE?
SHE DOES NOT EVEN KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT ME SINCE I MOVED NO ADDRESS, PERSONAL INFORMATION...ONLY NAME!

She has to have some kind of address of where to find you to serve you the papers. It doesn't have to be where you currently live, it could be at your job, the gym, anywhere you might be found.

Once she finds a place that you could be served, can she sue you for items you paid for and have documentation to prove it? Absolutely. Will she win? No.

unless either forefeited your right to sue and select arbitration as part of a lease agreement, you can be sued. Laws vary by state, but they could file a judgement against you on your last known address, which would be the place you rented from them, which this person would of course know the address of, as it is their property. I have heard of instances in which even if you were not served papers directly, you may be expected to appear. Failure to appear may result in a judgement in the landlord's favor, even though you didn't even know to be there! I am not an attorney, but basically, anything is possible. Of course, this would most likely be filed in small claims and so long as you have supporting documentation, as you say that indicates payment for the items in question, you would be cleared.

1. If any documentation is available showing that you paid for the items such as an invoice, lease agreement, receipt; then you can always counteract with the documentation in court...
2. If the individual is consistent on harassing you about the items...Get a free consultation with lawyer and request advice...
3. Read over the leasing agreement and see if their are stipulations.

I'm sure she can find some way to get a hold of you. There are PI's that will trace you and find you. If you filed your income tax using that address, or she knows where you worked, if you told any of the neighbors any information. If they want you, they will find you, sooner or later.

this is America and anybody can sue anybody for anything, or so it seems. So yeah, she can sue you.

I wonder how you knew about her wanting to sue you? You mus have some contact with someone in the area that knows your location now. Just keep your receipts handy, and if she does sue, maybe you can counter-sue for defamation of character
