I originally has MSN Messenger when a friend of mine on my computer clicked a link sent by a contact of mine. It turned out that the link installed a virus, and then my MSN sent out links to all my contacts -- and so forth. I proceeded to run AVG Free Anti-Virus, Ad-Aware and Spybot. I deleted all threats located by these programs. The problem seemed to be solved, but a few weeks later my MSN sent out links again. This time, I re-ran all the previous programs, uninstalled MSN and installed Windows Live Messenger. I changed my e-mail address and password. It seemed to be corrected, but today my Windows Live Messenger sent out the link once again. I NEED to get rid of this virus because I have contacts on my list who access MSN from work, and they can't run the risk of getting the virus. What do I do?

Uninstall the messenger, and use another one that is compactible with MSN Messenger like yahoo messenger or aol messenger, or google talk. Update your virus protection, and then left click on the MSN messenger and icon, and click scan with whatever antivirus you have, so the problem will be cleaned more properly.

the virus may be hiding in your system restore -- you can disable restore -- goto start --- all programs -- accessories -- system tools -- then system restore -- then on system restore settings then in restore tab check the turn off system restore *** make sure you have updated your antivirus online first --then shut your computer down disconnect it from the internet then turn it back on and *** disable restore *** to enable restore again just un check box -- make sure to run scans with restore disabled-- run a few scans with both avg and spybot -- im not sure what operating system you are using -- so im guessing xp -- hope this helps you in time -- the name of the virus would be very helpful to us

Your system is attacked by a worm, which has infected your system through Internet Explorer. You can follow this proven method to get rid of such messenger worms:
http://www.geocities.com/avsharath/Removing_W32_Sohana.B_Worm.htm
However, this is manual method, you should get a Google Pack which contains essential anti-virus and anti-spyware softwares to keep away from such viruses in future. Also, Internet explorer is not a secure browser, get Firefox browser to keep away from viruses and worm attacks.

You can mail me if the problem persists.
