Hello. My question is this, I live in MN and wish to get married in catholic church in another state, we're thinking maybe Florida. I don't know any of the guidelines when it comes to this. Will I need special permission from my bishop here to do so? And also, will any churches marry people from out of state?

My first marriage was in the catholic church and out of town, and I have also been a wedding planner. The catholic church requires that you be a paying member of the church in order to get married there (you or your fiance) or sometimes they will let you do it if there is an opening...but they charge you a steep fee and call it an "offering". You do not need permission.

Every state has a different law on marriage. Usually you will need to go to the state that you intend to get married in appx 30 days before so that you can obtain the marriage license. You cannot use an out of state license. I hope that helps.

You need to find out what are the requirement the catholic church in florida are asking for. Usually when you marry out of your town, you are required to ask your pastor for authorization. When you say any church, are you referring to the catholic church? Where is your fiance from?
Obviously you need to complete your premarital sessions.

No, you can get married anywhere so long as it's in the Church and you take a marriage prep course.
