Whitewater, too immature and unrealistic about real world to see pitfall? Pardons at end of terms? Didn't learn from Whitewater? I've been busting Giuliani, why can't I bring this to question. I think President Clinton did more for USA than any President since? I voted 2 times for him, and I thought he arrogant and supercilious. BUT, he bombed bin-Laden until Republicans stopped him. Bombed Lybia. Govenment had surpluses until President Bush. Historians will decide or muddle the character defects. But, he is a very strange person?

All Presidents have character flaws, and the American people by and large are willing to tolerate a substantial host of them - as long as they believe in the general leadership of the President.

I would wager to say that infidelity had a far lesser impact on the well-being of the nation than the weak-minded incompetence of the current.

Just to respond to the above--

President Clinton was apparently obsessed with finding and bringing bin Laden to justice. He did bomb a training camp where bin Laden had been recently seen, but struck an empty tent (hence, G. Bush campaigning that he would not be using a $1million bomb on a $20 tent when he is president).

The fact is this: Clinton was one of the most effective presidents in history. However, the Republicans were against him because he is a Democrat. There are, paradoxically, many policies that have been espoused by GW Bush taht have traditionally been Democratic favorites (isn't it the Democrats who have argued that the US has a moral obligation to bring its wealth and power to the aid of those oppressed by dictators -- yet the Dems are against the toppling of the dictatorship in Iraq). The thought that there are any ideals in politics is out-dated. Its all about power.
