well. there are two situations

situation #1
a person's nationality is the country they were born in or the lovable " mother land" and mother "tounge that they speak and are surronded with.when you are born in a country you automatically get that nation's citizenship.

situation #2
lets say we have a natural italien born man named mario.
he is really nice and optomistic.
mario moved from italy to united states
he is an italian who moved to the land of opportunity.
after legally being in the country for 5 years he decides to become a citizen of america.
being american is not really his nationality but he now gets the same rights as a citizen of america
* mario has the choice of giving up his italien citizenship to become a united states citizonship or maybe even get a dual citizenship.
In the end mario still loves his mother land (national homeland) but now enjoys the new homeland (citizenship of america!)

Citizenship means you have the rights of a citizen in a certain country. Nationality just means you were born there.Your citizenship can be the same as your nationality.

two totally different things. You may have come here from Italy, france, Africa, or Mexico. That is your former nationality.
That is why your hair is straight, curly, red or black or even blond.
But, now that you are all living in the USA and hopefully are citizens of the country. You are legal residents of this country.
Not illegal immigrants. We are all citizens.

citizenship, is an actual legal binding to the country (you have a passport from that country)

nationality can mean a varity of things:
1) it is your ethnic background
2) It is where your living
It depends on who your talking to for what definition they give you
