There's a lot more money this season in cap space, so teams are throwing crazy money at some suspect players...
But some of the earlier posts are right, it happens a lot. It is just that this season there are more "recognizable" names being traded.

alot of teams are looking for new talent at lower prices than what the big name guys are asking to renew their contracts, so even if it's the same amount of people the money is certaintly more.

no, actually there is a lot less. it is just a bigger deal this year because people are making more money, and only the expensive deals get noticed.
