I bought a new laptop and i have a ton of songs on my ipod that I want to put into itunes on my laptop. I also have a lot of purchases in the itunes thats installed on my laptop, such as episodes of Grey's Anatomy that I want to stay on my computer. How can I transfer songs from my iPod to my laptop for free and keep everything that is on the laptop as well?

click file, then click TRANSFER ALL PURCHASES, and then wait for them to transfer. This will only transfer purchases, and not from any other sources.

Okay, well first you cant just plug it in and copy them, you need to plug your iPod into where you are going to be taking the media from then drag all of it to your iPod in the My Computer menu for windows and Computer for Mac's. If you dont have enough space to put the stuff on your iPod, then erase everything off of your iPod in iTunes then just update your iPod later. After everything you want to put on your laptop is on your iPod then unplug your iPod from the computer and plug your iPod into your laptop, go to my computer for windows and computer for mac's then click on your iPods icon. Then right click, or ctrl click for mac's and send all of your media to your music folder. then just go to iTunes click file, then click add folder to library, then select the folder that has the media from your old computer. wish you luck, brodster

There is a program called podutil, it recently updated and changed it's name though, but it can do this for you. Look it in google and it will tell you the new name.
