I can only answer for the US, but you'll need to change your social security card. Go to your local social security office (check the phone book or internet for the location). They'll issue you a new card with the same number but a different last name. You'll need your marriage certificate to do it. With the new social security card or marriage certificate, you can change your last name pretty much everywhere else - drivers' license, credit cards, etc.

First thing go to the social security office. Make sure you take your marriage certificate and current ID's. Then, you get the pain in the rear task of contacting your bank, creditors, employer, motor vehicle dept., etc with your name change as soon as the SS office issues you a new SS card or legal document showing acceptance of the new name. Good news is that there is no fee to change your name because of marriage.

you go to your social security place and let them see your marriage certificate Id or drivers license and tell them your social and they request you a new card while you are sitting there they change your name in the system and in 2 weeks you'll have your new card easy and simple I just had to do that and just got my card =)
oh and you'll have to go to the DMV all you need there is your marriage license and they give you a new drivers license and ID oh and they don't use your old picture so you'll have to be ready to take a new pic that day I didn't know that and if I would have I would have been more prepared (no make up hair a mess =))

It's a pain in the butt! (lol)
1.) obtain a certified copy of the marriage certificate from the county you were married in. (usually available 10 days after being married)
2.) Go down to Social Security, and change your name first with them.
3.)then you go to DMV and change your name with them.
4.) Once you receive your new Driver's license..then you can go to your bank (and etc) and officially change your name with them.

You have to go to the Social Security Office first and have that changed and then that is your proof along with your marriage certificate to change your drivers lic. as well. Just fill out the forms.

Go to bank, driver license office, etc, and show your marriage license.

I never went to the Social Security office, I mailed it in, the only place I went in person was for the drivers license, and they did not ask for a second form of ID.

With your marriage license in hand, go to the social security office in our town/state to make the change.. After that you can update everything else-- driver's license, bank accounts, credit cards, bills, etc..

Good luck- it's a pain.. and congrats!

you have to wait until you get copies of your marriage liscense, about 6 weeks after the wedding date. Then you proceed to send the copy to the social security administration, and for your liscense and such, and most credit cards will let you just call and change it over the phone.
:)
