mass education has been the biggest issue.
I dont mean to sound harsh but -
the less you know the more content you are.
The poor didnt really know they were THAT poor until some smart man thought lets educate EVERYONE and then the poor realised - hold on... whose this person who gets a golden carriage and i get too worn out shoes....

and then you got social unrest - crime increased yadda yadda... thats one take..
most people today will say "pollution' but they fail to realise that earth goes through cycles an that whislt we humans pollute alot we dont have the power to re-order magnetic cycles or weather patternbs :)

The separation of families. It used to be that the families all worked together. Now parents usually work far from their children and children lose their parents to the machine for ten or twelve hours five days per week. I don't think families should be separated so much, it has caused a myriad of problems and you can no longer raise your own child or be protected and cared for by your own parents.

Overpopulation. The population spike is directly correlated with the industrial revolution.

I would go for pollution and the increased lack of humanity in the cities because of overcrowding and ridiculous working conditions.

Pollution, overcrowded cities, child labor, poor education, the birth of slums, and the disappearance of real craftsmen.

Overcrowding and lack of support systems in the new towns.
Following on from this comes diseases like typhus and cholera.
