Let h = the number of hours, and write an equation. We know it will cost $50 an hour (50h) plus the cost of parts (150). We know the sum will be $450:

50h + 150 = 450
50h = 300 (subtract 150 from both sides)
h = 6 (divide both sides by 50)

First you subtract the $150 for parts from the total bill, because the money for parts doesn't affect the labor costs. That leaves you with $300, which when divided by $50 per hour gives you 6 hours.
