Well its an geometric sequence. It's mutlipled by 1/2 each time. It's descneding because each term is less than the previous one.

144/2 = 72, 72/2 = 36, 36/2 = 18, 18/2 = 9
There is a constant ratio between terms, so the sequence is geometric. the ratio is < 1, so it is descending

Arithmetic means that it is addition or subtraction in the order. Geometric means multiplication/division, and miscellaneous means no apparent order. This means that it is geometric, since it is dividing by 2, and descending b/c the numbers are going down.
